Sydney Pictures

If you were following along while I was away you already know that I wasn’t that taken with Sydney. the best thing about it was meeting my friend Steven’s friends Louisa and Jo, but it was like, at a brunch with Jo’s mum, and then I didn’t get to meet up with them again the way I wanted because of scheduling and so on and so forth. I don’t mind spending time alone but I did feel pretty isolated and out of sort while I was there, which is fairly evident in my “see-here-I-am-near-the-Sydney-Opera-House-is-everyone-happy-now?” face that I’m making in this picture.

Fulfilling My Tourist Obligation

I spent most of my time walking around Darling Harbour and going shopping and to the Sydney Aquarium and eating gelato and reading books.

Fountain At Darling Harbour

And checking out some ibises, which are the pukekos of Australia, which is to say they are the egrets, pigeons, or crows thereof. Always pushing the boundaries with my wildlife photography, that’s me.

Ibis

I was pretty glad to get out of the city for 48 hours and spend some time walking around the Blue Mountains.

Katoomba

Echo Point

Tree Cutout

If you’ll recall, this is where I hucked myself back up the approximately eight hundred bajillion (give or take) stairs I’d taken to get down to Wentworth Falls.

Wentworth Falls

(To any Key Girls who may be reading and are worried that I was about to reprise my waterfall-related antics from 1990 in the Dominican Republic, don’t worry, I was holding on tight to the handrails).

Crossing The Creek

Obviously I didn’t take this picture when I was huffing and puffing my way back up the mountain, but it was nice to see it anyway.

Halfway

From Sydney I flew to Brisbane for a weekend, for reasons I can’t quite recall now, and then it was time to go to the wallaby project DUN DUN DUN. Lots of pictures of me holding a baby kangaroo to my chest while weeping copiously into its fur to come, kids, so brace yourselves or whatever.

These are all great – I always love your photo posts – but the first one is so awesome and you look so beautiful in it.

None of the links are working, Babe. Great pics, though!

Your photography is enviable to the plebs like me. I particularly adore the seagull action shot!

At least you saw the Blue Mountains! My experience when I went to see them with Louisa was seeing only a few metres in from of my face – everything was shrouded in dense fog!!! Am bracing myself for the emotional wallaby shots…

I’ve been there! Now that you say “Katoomba” and show a picture, I remember that when I was 14 and on a teen mission trip to Australia (those heathens), we also stopped at Katoomba and hiked those enormous stairs. I remember looking up from the bottom thinking, “Umm, what?”

Hugs and kisses and tissues and tea!
