Raise Your Hand

Okay, y’all, I seriously have like four minutes on this computer before I go to my Barrier Reef Wildlife Identification class, but everyone raise your hand if you just got a hundred percent on your Open Water exam? Wait, whose hand is that? THAT WOULD BE MINE. So far I love diving.

It’s been a really fun and exhausting two days in the pool; everyone on the course seems super nice and good-looking; I don’t much like putting a wetsuit on; I got a little freaked out this afternoon in the deep pool when one of the instructors started physically rolling me over when I was trying to put my weight belt on; I was not expecting there to be so much math, with diving–seriously, like eight of those questions on that exam I got a hundred percent on, they made me solve for x, and confidentially from your friend Chiara to you, I have not solved for x since the eighties, the actual eighties even, not the terrible clothing-revival kind we’re going through at the moment; they say we’ll be able to see humpback whales on the way out to the reef tomorrow; I’ve been invited out tonight but I think maybe it’s not a good idea when I have to be ready to go at six a.m; I really like the whole diving philosophy of how it’s mostly just about going down and looking around at stuff, and y’all know how I love looking at stuff; I am feeling surprisingly confident with all the gear; I can’t wait to get out there tomorrow.

That’s all I have to say about diving at the moment, other than I think this is going to be potentially one of the best things I’ve ever done, ever, and that I can’t wait to breathe under the sea.

Yay for diving! I haven’t been in like ten years (shit, maybe more) and you’ve made me miss it something fierce. Enjoy that other Down Under, I say.

I am a big fraidy-cat when it comes to the ocean and so I will be rooting for you — a bit nervously and sort of peeking between my fingers, but so excited! Yea for 100% and solving for X!

Algebra AND potential Octopus action!!??!! You are beginning to go beyond *Rockstar* and into a whole other realm… :o)

Keep having fun and remember – your readers DEMAND pics (dunno how though, if your camera is dead..)

Huh, I don’t remember having to do any algebra for our dives in the Caribbean last spring, but then, we were little baby divers doing little baby dives. The whole breathing underwater thing kinda freaks me out, but it was fun.
