Spot of Brightness

Yay!

I just got back from a really good job interview. I’m not going to tell you all about it right now because I don’t want to jinx it, but I just wanted to state, for the record, that it’s been quite a while since I felt this excited about anything work-related at all. I would really love to get this even though it’s only half-time and the pay isn’t great. That’s how positive I’m feeling. Man, I can’t wait to write my thank you note!

Yesterday, for those of you taking notes, was just as gorgeous as Monday was, and so I promptly did just what I felt like doing. Carl and I went on a long walk at Green Lake and had a picnic and a Jamba Juice and talked held hands and walked around the lake and saw a couple of ducks, though not as many as we would have liked…we certainly saw nothing to compete with the last time we went to Green Lake, when we saw some ducks sitting in the branches of some trees growing low to the water. Man, that was great. Every time we see a bunch of ducks swimming to the middle of the lake, we joke that they’re on the way to DuckCon 2002, to discuss strategies for maximizing their actualized efficiency, or something. Carl’s much better at corporate jargon talk than I am. They’re all getting their tote bags and folders and name tags, and agreeing where to meet up that night and sing karaoke and get drunk. They’ve got their PDAs and their cells on vibrate, and they’re hoping the catering is good this time, because at the last DuckCon it was just slugs and pond water, and that’s what everyone serves. Heh. DuckCon. You have to really picture it, then you will be laughing to yourself like a goon (or is that a loon? See? Waterfowl humor!) just as I am at the moment.

I am off now to go to the store and then make a grapefruit tart for Deane’s monthly Rent Cake. This will be my first attempt at pie crust. I’ll let you all know how it works out. Wish me luck with this new job thing, folks, I could use some in my life at the moment, okay?
